Some things work by design,
Others just work on their own,
Some will turn out fine,
While others make us groan.
Some things make us wary,
Unsure of what comes next,
Old friends rarely vary,
That's why they're the best.
Divergent paths we follow,
Then find common ground,
The threads find reconnection,
The circle finds its round.
Then living moves us onward,
Each to his own way,
With hope for new old laughter,
A respite in the fray.
To everyone who is a friend,
For very long at all,
You fill a most important role,
There is no higher call.
